Bjørn Kristensen delivered a performance of a lifetime, as he scored all four goals for the Philippines to beat Timor-Leste, 4-1, in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers at Territory Rugby League Stadium on October 9.
Kristensen continued his dominant showing for the Philippines, scoring seven goals in just three games in the tournament, bringing his total of 12 goals in 14 games for the national team.
He opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a rebound after the goalkeeper parried a shot.
The 23-year-old forward doubled their lead via a solo run past the keeper in the 31st minute.
Timor Leste sparked a glimmer of hope after a Paulo Gali goal in the 47th minute, only for Kristensen to deny the comeback attempt with a header off the goalkeeper Georgino deflection that hit the crossbar seconds after to make it 3-1.
His fourth came when Sandro Reyes threaded a pass through three defenders, which Kristensen finished past Georgino.
With the victory, the Philippines climbed to the top of Group A in the third round of qualifiers, gathering seven points courtesy of two wins and a draw.
The Filipinos are looking to extend their unbeaten streak against the same opponent, this time hosting them on Tuesday, October 14, at the New Clark City Stadium in Capas, Tarlac.
