The Department of Education (DepEd) formally established the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Talisay City, finally completing the 13 City SDOs in addition to Negros Occidental as the Provincial Division Office pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 062, s. 2025, signed October 2.
DepEd Memorandum No. 062, s. 2025, entitled “Establishing the Schools Division Office of Talisay City,” and disseminated through Regional Memorandum No. 447, s. 2025 and Division Memorandum 747, s. 2025, Talisay City officially breaks away from SDO Negros Occidental to form its own office.
Dr. Jen-Ann V. Rosal was formally designated as the Officer-in-Charge, Schools Division Superintendent (OIC-SDS) with Dr. Noel E. Santillian as OIC Assistant Schools Division Superintendent (OIC ASDS) during the Investiture Ceremony, spearheaded by DepEd-Negros Island Region (NIR) on Oct. 14 at Nature’s Village Resort.
Furthermore, the Transition Plan for the Initial Operation of SDO Talisay City was finished on Oct. 16, presented by Dr. Ramir B. Uytico, Regional Director of DepEd-NIR, symbolizing the start of a new era of learning for the city.
Moreover, during the Opening of the Cluster III Meet 2025 on Oct. 16, which Talisay City hosted, Uytico mentioned the newly established division, stating that the newly drafted Transition Plan, completed before the opening ceremony, demonstrates the dedication of the regional office to establishing a separate SDO for Talisay City.
“That’s how committed we are pag may bagong division na i-establish. The regional office is always preparing that division office sa paggawa ng transition plan,” he stated.
The establishment of SDO Talisay City marks the beginning of a new journey for the city, while also strengthening DepEd’s mandate to provide accessible, efficient, and responsible educational services to the learners and stakeholders of Talisay.
