A law student from De La Salle University in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig who had been missing since June 8 was found dead in Naic, Cavite on Saturday.
Authorities identified the victim as Anthony Granada, 25, who was last seen boarding a Grab vehicle from his condominium unit along C-5 Road. The ride was reportedly bound for Naic Town Plaza.
“He was just calm during the trip,” Col. Rodel Pastor, officer-in-charge of the Taguig City Police, told The Philippine STAR on Saturday, citing the testimony of the Grab driver.
Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage later captured Granada walking alone at around 9:20 p.m. on June 17 along Lopez Jaena Bridge, according to police.
On Saturday, the Naic Municipal Police Station received information about a body discovered in an advanced state of decomposition at a vacant lot in Barangay Sapa, Naic. Granada’s father, Ricky, positively identified the body as his son.
Investigators have ruled out foul play as the cause of death based on initial findings.
In a Facebook post, Ricky Granada appealed to the public for privacy as their family mourns. “We ask for privacy to grieve in the moment,” he wrote.
As of this writing, authorities have yet to release further details regarding the circumstances surrounding Granada’s disappearance and death.
